The lower control arm in your Miata comes with rubber bushings. These are great for a comfortable ride. They provide insulation between the tires and the chassis, reducing the noise and vibration that is not absobed by the tires.
Unfortunately, this same rubber also introduced flex in the steering geometry. That means that instead of a seamless transition through the braking zone and into the corner, you are constantly trying to outdrive the suspension changes that occur as the suspension reacts to the uneven pavement.
Other bushing materials such as polyurethane and polyoxymethylene (POM) exist. Polyurethane is great where some compromise must be made between suspension accuracy and insulation of road noise. However, for a true race car, something more substantial is required for suspension bushings. POM, more commonly known under DuPont's trade name of Delrin™, is the perfect answer.
Delrin is lightweight and low friction. That's good. Unfortunately, Delrin bushing sets for your Miata are also very expensive: over $800 for the full set for all four lower control arms.
