COR 2950 Corbeau FX1 PRO Racing Seat

Corbeau FX1 PRO Racing Seat COR 2950

It turns out that when you're looking for a seat for your Miata, the selection is necessarily limited by the available seats. Very few seats will fit in the Miata's rather tight quarters. Fortunately, that does not require you to compromise. Corbeau provides the perfect combination of quality, capability, and price, all in an attractive package that fits well in the Miata's confines.

The FX1 Pro is a fixed-back, composite seat that includes the mounting point for attaching the seat to the roll cage, as is required in SCCA racing. Despite it's compact size it will accomodate drivers up to roughly 38" in waist diameter. It has side-mount holes too and works perfectly with Corbeau Aluminum Side-Mount Brackets. Easily remove the insert cushions to keep them clean between events.

Q&A:

Q: I was curious if you had any additional photos of the Corbeau FX1 Pro seat in black mounted in a the Miata. Also, would this seat give me any problems with fitment into a Miata with a SPEC Miata style rollcage?

A: I do think that this seat will fit into a Spec Miata although we've not tested it. This is one of the only seats that will fit a Miata, btw. Wayne has more experience than I do with Spec Miatas and he says it should fit as long as the door bars go into the door. If the door bars are designed to allow the original door panels to be left in place, it will likely not work (and I don't know of anything that will.)

We do need to get some additional photo's of the installed seat. Additionally, we hope to do a video of the seat installation soon, so that should help quite a bit.

Q: I am looking for racing seats for my 1994 Miata which will be used both on street and track. I see that you installed Corbeau FX1 Pro seats in your Miata race car. Why did you use side brackets rather than the bottom brackets made by Corbeau for the Miata? Also, would the slightly wider FX1 fit in the car?

A:We used the side-mount brackets simply because we are more comfortable with the security of a sidemount bracket and don't often have need to change the seat position. There is nothing wrong with the bottom mount brackets (particularly if they have the dual-locking mechanism that is available when ordering through Racing-Seats-USA.Com) but we like knowing that we're being held in place by those burly aluminum sidemount brackets that Corbeau makes.

The standard FX1 would probably not fit. It is a pretty good squeeze just getting the FX1 Pro in there. The FX1 Pro is not significantly more narrow on the inside of the seat, so you don't buy too much more driver room by going with the standard FX1. The majority of the difference lies on the outline of the FX1 Pro, which is a bit smaller.
