You don't really need to turn that alternator _that_ fast, do you? I mean, you start with a good charge on your battery and spend most of your time a high RPM, so slow that thing down a little, reduce the wear and tear on the alternator and give a little more horsepower back to the engine. (As I write this suddenly I can't find my data on exactly how much smaller the crank pulley is or now much larger the alternator pulley is. That's what happens when you get old.
