Will The Whole Be Greater Than The Sum Of Its Parts? We Hope So!
When challenged with the daunting task of developing a meaningful page that explains
what EPMiata.Com is all about, the best I could think to do is start by discussing
the main components. To oversimplify, EPMiata.Com is a partnership between
the individuals who founded TMD Racing (Wayne Paulin) and Cyberspace Automotive Performance,
Inc. (Chris Myer.)
The partnership does not require a lot of planning and
conversation because each of us has complete confidence in the other's skills. That's easy
because there is not so much overlap in skill sets. I am know very little about race car
building and am not particularly gifted in the driver's seat of the race car. Which
is okay because Wayne excels in both of those areas. And Wayne is all too happy to let me
handle the marketing and business relationships piece. Which I don't mind as long as I
get to hang out at the track. Win-Win!
It's been accurately stated that the best way to make a small fortune in racing is to
start with a big one. Since neither of us has a huge financial foundation from which to
self-sponsor a racing program, that means we'll have to make EPMiata.Com successful the
old-fashioned way: By being better at everything we do than everyone else and, in doing
so, attract adequate amounts of OPM (Other People's Money) to feed our habit.
Enough rambling. Let's explore further the key components of EPMiata.Com, as well as the
chosen venue for our racing (SCCA E-Production.) Then we can review the history of this
beautiful race car that we are priviledged to operate.
Cyberspace Automotive Performance, Inc. (CAP)
Being the first auto parts business on the Internet, CAP has seen a lot of changes since the
"world wide web" first came on the scene. Currently operating 6 different eCommerce websites
known as the "CyberAuto Group of Websites", CAP got it's start back in 1993. Rather than try
to re-create all of that history here, we'll send you to the
About Cyberspace Automotive Performance webpage.
TMD Racing
Founded in 1995 as part of a lifelong dream of Wayne Paulin to become successful
in professional automobile racing. TMD Racing started in the Sports Car Club of
America's (SCCA) Improved Touring division. After achieving success there, TMD
Racing moved on to Production Car racing, starting with a 1983 Toyota Celica. Despite
the challenges of campaigning a 2-decade old sportscar, TMD Racing was able to realize
the goal of being the points champion for the E-Production class in the competitive
Central Florida Region. TMD Racing finished the 2004 season with 18 top-5 finishes out
of 21 starts with 3 poles and 4 wins. They went on to cap the season a strong 4th in
points in the South Atlantic Road Racing Championship (SARRC) series.
In addition to being the driving force behind TMD Racing, Wayne Paulin owns and
operates the very successful Port St. John Auto Repair in Brevard County, Florida.
After completing a tour in the Navy aboard the USS Garcia, Wayne went to work for
Toyota, earning both his Mechanic Certification from the National Institute for
Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) as well as becoming a Toyota Diagnostic Technician.
He also worked for Massari-Muller Racing, which saw him involved in race car building,
dyno-tuning, and positioned as the car chief on the team's 95 Cobra-R for 3 seasons.
SCCA E-Production Racing
If you'll allow me to oversimplify, SCCA™ race cars can be broken into production vehicles, spec racers, and
formula cars. Of these three classes, production cars are those that have been mass produced (ie, that you could at one
point buy at a dealership.) Of these cars, there are three categories: Improved Touring (IT), Production,
and Grand Touring (GT). Read More About SCCA
